Gut healing ginger turmeric paste

I can't remember exactly how I came to make this paste the first time or where I read about it, but I remember that I started making it back when we lived in Tampa, Florida, in 2015. So yeah, it's been eight years and I am still drinking this concoction every morning.

I recommend this gut-healing paste to all my clients interested in lowering systemic inflammation and healing their gut.

This paste is a part of my morning ELIXIR, which includes water, apple cider vinegar, this paste, aloe vera, l-glutamine, and other supplements depending on every client's needs.

250g fresh turmeric

250g organic lemons with the peel on

250g honey (if honey is allowed)

Instructions

  • Peel and add all the ingredients to a high-speed blender;

  • Blend until smooth paste forms- add water as needed;

  • Transfer the paste into clean glass jars, refrigerate, and use daily as needed;

***Be careful as this paste might stain your blender, hands, nails, and chopping board. Use gloves as needed.

Potential health benefits

Ginger

Gingerol, a natural component of ginger root, benefits gastrointestinal motility (the rate at which food exits the stomach and continues along the digestive process). Eating ginger encourages efficient digestion, so food doesn’t linger as long in the gut. Ginger helps with nausea, gas, constipation, and bloating, lowers systemic inflammation, and contains antioxidants for cell repair.

Turmeric

Curcumin, the main known constituent of turmeric, has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric is rich in phytonutrients that may protect the body by neutralizing free radicals (pollution, sunlight) and shielding the cells from damage. Turmeric also helps with digestion, cell regeneration, and systemic inflammation, among other things.

Lemon

Lemon peels contain essential oils, limonene, and pectin.

Limonene has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antinociceptive, anticancer, antidiabetic, antihyperalgesic, antiviral, and gastroprotective effects, among other beneficial effects on health.

Pectin helps digestion and microbiome health.

Essential oils have many health benefits.

Honey

Honey is optional but highly recommended for health.

As usual, these are my thoughts and ideas, not medical advice. You are encouraged to create your own recipes or search for some suited to your needs. I am just sharing my recipes, hoping that I can inspire some of you to make healthier food choices.
